I use the Info Panel to display duration of Clips and Selections.
Maybe hovering over them tells you that too.
I would use a Black Video Clip or a Color Matte or a section of transparent Video to "create" a gap of a required Duration.
Maybe even a Title.
Perfect; thank you. I had forgotten that was even there. I was looking at the Program or Timeline interfaces for a place to display it. While Info panel isn't as prominent as I'd like, it's got almost everything I need. Thanks again, shooternz.

to make a gap:
- insert anything and delete it
- or: in the timeline, in the source section (on the left), right click and choose gap => insert gap with length of what's marked in the source
You have to mark the selection before it will show you the correct duration. You can use the / key to achieve this.
