Can Smart Objects now be linked in CC and CC2014? That's a brand new concept. In all prior versions, up to CS6, Smart Objects are not linked to the parent file from which they are generated, but they act as an embedded complete file.
If the Files the linked SO refer to are situated beside the containing File duplicating the Folder and editing the corresponding duplicate SO Files should result in Modified Content in the duplicate File.
yes, I dit it !
but the Linked smart objects continue always joined with their originals files...
I have changed the name of the folder, the name of the PSD file and also the name of the Linked smart objects.. And nothing...
My solutions was : Select the Linked smart objects, and choose Layer > Smart Objects > Replace Contents.
but this takes me a lot of time ! !
thank you !
On my set-up the linked objects are recognised as modified in the duplicated Folder.
Anyway, a Scripting solution may be possible but it may not be worth the trouble if the task is not a very frequent one.
If you want to visualize different versions of a layout and depending on the layout itself maybe Indesign would provide better or more convenient options.
I have solved my problem!!
If I duplicate two projects, without changing the name of the folder where I saved the Linked smart objects...
the Linked smart objects don't look for the original link folder! but if I change the name of the folder , the Linked smart objects return to old link.
solution : don't change the name of Linked smart objects folder If you want to duplicate a project
thank you !
