I am doing a mail merge piece for a client, where they want the text to appear part of the background image. I am working with effects and layers to make this work, but the one thing I'm finding more difficult in InDesign than in Photoshop or Illustrator, is making the text reshape. I can shear the text, but it should be getting smaller as it gets closer to the doors (farther away), and I'm not seeing a way to do this. Or, in another example, we have a banner the text can go on over the door, but I'm not seeing how to do a flag effect or something similar, so the text changes size and shape to match the banner's flow.
ID does not have the tools to do that with live text. Why not do it in Photoshop, save as Photoshop PDF and place that into an ID document if you need more pages? Similarly, do the Flag effect in Illustrator and place that if you need multiple pages.
Ok. I was only trying to do in ID because it is a mailer, so I am data merging about 1000 names into the area of the red carpet. Is there a way to do that with a data map type file in Illustrator?
You need to ask that over in the Illustrator forum.
