What sort of formatting is showing up that you are trying to prevent, and how is the text getting onto the page?
We need a more detailed description of what you are doing....
things like > and wording that says, "agate" after the type. I've been dragging the type from the basket to a
blank text box, applying a shortcut style and then copying it and pasting it onto the page. But the formating
stuff shows up.
What do you mean by "I've been dragging the type from the basket to a blank text box"?
Are you trying to drag-and-drop from another program? Which program?
from news-edit pro
Does that program have any options to export text or RTF which you could place into InDesign? Have you tried copy and paste instead of drag-and-drop?
It's clear that the drag-and-drop brings the formatting.
Alternatively, if none of the alternative methods are possible, you could set up search and replace or script to remove the formatting commands.
I'm brand new on this version of news-edit and also indesign. used quark for years and years, so struggling a bit.
I'll email the news-edit folks and see if they can help. Someone said you could go to a "turn off formating" place and
that would solve the problem in indesign (although they didn't know just where that might be). Not a huge thing, just trying
to clean that up. thanks for the advice.
Sounds like a good plan.
