Apologies for the unorthodox way of handling this. It is obviously something in the text, what I don't know what, so here goes a telegraphic version of the question.
- Operating System: OS X 10.9.5
- Current LR Version: 5.7 (perpetual license)
- LR says system up to date
- 5.7.1 dmg file nowhere in downloads folder, latest dmg file is 5.7
Conclusion: LR did not update in December as expected.
My 2 questions are: what to do? what is going on?
This is the official perpetual update download link.
It will also be a good idea to bookmark the following link, which provides official details of all Lightroom / ACR developments.
Thanks, I am familiar with both links, but they are appreciated in any case.
Normally, I would have downloaded and installed without asking but I wanted to post this as a reply to another recent thread because somebody with the same issue, downloaded and installed from the link and ended up with metadata issue in the catalog. Just because of that I am more cautious than usual.
This is strange I don't seem to be able to download the file, Safari complains it cannot write the file, there is plenty of disk space available.
You might need to check the permissions for the destination location. You might also try using a different file browser.
Thanks Jim. Permissions are not an issue. I am trying again the same download on 2 separate machines. I will write an update when it finishes.
2nd try on OS X 10.9.5 and Safari 7.1.2 succeeded but the download was very slow. The 2nd computer Windows 7 Professional and Chrome complete the download in a fraction of time. The update has been applied.
I know Adobe does not read this forums but it would be great if they could check the software update process for OS X as I suspect there could be a few people out there thinking they are on the latest version 5.7.1 and they are not because 5.7 keeps telling them their software is up to date.
