Whenever I import my RAW Canon image files, it appears that some sort of effect is being applied when they load. The image shows flat when it is loading, but then once it's completely loaded, the image appears to have more contrast. Does anyone know what is happening? Thanks!
I am guessing that it has something to do with LR building the previews for your images. Some of my RAW files look pixelated until LR builds the previews.
When a raw image is imported, Lightroom first displays the embedded JPEG preview which will be affected by all the in-camera settings. This preview is displayed until Lightroom has generated a preview of the raw image data. Since Lightroom does not read all of those camera settings, that would account for the change in appearance.
