My Windows 8 PC hard drive is kaput. I installed a new hard drive and recovered the PC and installed Lightroom 5.7.1.
I had been backing up my catalog and pictures (when imported) to an external drive that is still working and available.
How to I restore my old Lightroom environment? The backups are not stored in the same manner the database was, they're in subfolders like "imported on Setptember 9, 2013" or something similar. What is the restore process?
Thanks for any and all help,
In order for you to use the old catalog and have the adjustments in place, it will be necessary for you to locate the images. Since they aren't in the same folder structure as they were in your old catalog you will have to go through the tedious process of putting all of the images In their original folders. If that isn't practical, it might be simpler to simply start a new catalog and start over.
Thanks Jim. That implies I lose all editing I did right? Ouch...
Unless you can rebuild the file structure that you had before, or somehow point Lightroom to were those images are located now, then I'm afraid you will have to just start over. Not good news, I know.
