Ram issues, unable to play small video file in real time with MacBook pro in After Effects

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro: 3.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32 GB of memory, and an AMD FirePro D300 2048 Graphics card.

I am placing a simple 1080p quicktime video in After Effects from my desktop, and the program is unable to preview the video in real time with no effects (not even in 1/4 resolution). How is this even possible? Does anyone know what could possibly create such a noticeable drag with such a small file in a monster computer with such a monster program?
