I would like to ask for your help with a problem concerning Arabic diacritics that we encountered in the Adobe InDesign software. The nature of our work necessitates having a number of computers that share the same InDesign files. Unfortunately, there is an inconsistency in the Arabic diacritics, especially in the letter إ. On one of our computers, the letter appears without the diacritic - AlKasra (ِ) on the letter إ., while on the other computers it appears with (ِ)à (إِ). This causes many problems in our work. How can we make the letter A /إ appear with AlKasra (ِ) without having to add it manually?
Mac OS X , version 10.6.8
CS 5 , version 126.96.36.1997
First things to do are make sure there is only one version of the font installed on each machine, and it is the same on all of them. Next is to update ID to 7.0.4.
Thank you, Peter. Yes, each machine has only one version of the font installed. So, is updating InDesign the only way to solve the problem? By the way, is it just a general advice or is our problem a known issue in version 7.0.0?
I'm not going to promise that updating WILL solve the problem, but the patches do have bug fixes, and it's easier to diagnose a problem if you have the newest patch installed.
