Can you tell us more about this font? I Google it but couldn't find it.
You understand that's not really a free font and you're violating URW's copyright?
Aside from that, that version is 20 yrs old, though I don't see any listings for newer versions, and ID is VERY picky about font quality. I suggest you find another font.
Looks like a direct rip-off of Futura to me.
While that page identifies URW++ as the copyright holder, I cannot find it in my records. If it is copyrighted by URW++, then using it without a license is illegal.
I don't know about the copyright issue. I"ll have to check on that.
What's interesting is that it works for another user, but doesn't work for this one. ...So I was hoping for a setting or some issue specific to her workstation. Maybe it's just a fluke that it's working for the other user?
I didn't express myself well in my response above.
Aside from other makers, URW++ created its version of Futura. This font you linked to is most likely done by someone who simply renamed the URW++ Futura font as Manana. Which is illegal.
My Mac flat out refuses to install the font ("2 minor problems were found. Proceed with caution", "1 serious error was found. Do not use this font."). Running it through a font checker tells me
Table Directory: Directory Entry checksum error
This error indicates a structural problem with the font.
OS/2: The version number is invalid
Bad version number in OS/2 table (must be >0, and must be >1 for OT-CFF fonts).
name: Same ID, not the same string length
There are differences between a Mac name string and the corresponding Windows string.
And the Mac shows its name as "MaÒana" ... Really, this is a shoddy rip-off of a commercial font. I guess you got exactly what you paid for.
Thanks for all the help.
We'll look at Futura.
