Adobe Camera Raw 8.7 does support it Lumix LX100 raw files
So if you have Photoshop CS6 or later, get the 8.7.1 Camera Raw Plugin or the DNG Converter if you have CS5 or earlier.
Gene, thanks so much for the reply. The problem seems to be that the plug-in you suggest requires 10.7 or above, and I'm running 10.6.8. Furthermore, I've been warned by graphic designer friends NOT to update to later OSs if at all possible. Is there a work around?
Well, I don't know about that advice. It's like hanging on to XP. This really limits your options as 10.6 software is replaced by 10.7+ software. I understand if you have legacy equipment that you don't want to replace because there are no 10.7 + drivers.
You don't need to upgrade to Yosemite like I have, (mid 2009 Mac) but Mavericks is mature. 10.9 is good or whatever is recommended for your model
Staying with 10.6.8 blocks limits Adobe Camera Raw, you can only go as far as 8.3 leaving the Panasonic Lumix out of the cut.
If you depend on your Mac for your livelihood it does pay to stay current. If you are a hobbyist, well that's up to you. You'll have to find an alternative if you like your 10.6.8. Unfortunately I don't know of anything outside of Adobe. You will have to ask around and weigh your options.
Furthermore, I've been warned by graphic designer friends NOT to update to later OSs if at all possible.
Have you asked them why?
