I just tried actually and it seems OK although I would not want to discover later that the file is corrupted somehow.
I found files and folders dated 06-2014 ! I went from 92MB to 15MB.
But shouldn't Flash clean its own files ?
next time publish the file with the check box for "create size report" ticked. it will generate a text file showing you what is taking up size and where it might be getting larger when animation occurs.
If that doesnt yeild anything also try SWFInvestigator or Adobe Scout I believe. both will do the same thing in a more graphical way.
when your done working on your .fla file if you go to th etop right corner of the library there is a drop down that you can open it will have an option to remove all unused items, click that. it will remove all non used items and help reduce file size.

It's only the source FLA file that is huge, the SWF is... 561KB !!
And yes, I cleaned the library.
