Sounds like you are trying to save gradient or tint swatches. Unfortunately, ID doesn't support anything but solid colors for saving.
You're right, Peter. They are gradient Swatches (I think of them as Swatches because they're in my Swatches file). Hmmm. Can I—
1. copy these Gradients (Swatches), and then
2. convert these copies into straight un-gradiented solid-colour Swatches, and then
3. 'Save' these Swatches, and then, in my other InDesign document
4. re-gradient these Swatches
If not, is there some other way to get at these Gradient Swatches from my other InDesign document?
Thanks very much,
Click on a gradient stop, then open the color panel and drag the color proxy into the Swatches panel to create a swatch for that color. It won't be assigned to the stop in the current gradient, but can be used to make a new gradient later.
Thanks very much, once again, Peter. I will do this... and it will save me a lot of time.
