I write help for a software suite with about 11 different
modules. I have all the help in one chm file which opens at a
general welcome topic. Ideally, I would like it to open at the
topic most relevant to the module from which it is accessed.
We don't use context-sensitive help at present but I'm
thinking I could probably use this to get what I want.
Or I could use a different SSL for each module and so end up
with 11 different chms, each identical but for a different start
Context-sensitive help is your best option. You'll need to
generate map IDs for each topic and provide the map file to your
developers, who will ensure that the F1 key opens the help to the
relevant topic. For more information, check the RH Help files; they
do a good job explaining the task on the author's end.
