Mac Book Pro with 6 g ram and 2.4 i5 core OSX 10.9.5 - I recently installed Indesign CC 2014 from our team creative cloud and can open files but cannont edit since there are no tools available. no palettes! I unistalled all iterations of ID and reinstalled ID 2014 with the same results I also installed without saving any preferences. I also tried changing work spaces as well as short cuts with to tools.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The most obvious question is have you tried Window > Tools?
If trashing the prefs doesn't work (see Replace Your Preferences), then uninstall again, but this time run the cleaner tool before you reinstall: CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3
I don't know if this helps, but I just downloaded the desktop app and found no tools palette when I opened a new document. There was a box in the upper right hand corner that said Touch, and I thought it was trying to guide me to use my touch screen capacity instead of mouse, so I avoided it for a long time - as I prefer old school mouse to using my fingertips on my monitor screen.. But finally I clicked on it (in hopes of making it go away) and it gave me a drop down box that enabled me to open the tools palette. I realize this reply is very late after the fact of your post but maybe it will assist someone else.
