Fireworks writing bad html for pop-ups?

    Scott716
      Hi -- great forum.

I think that Fireworks is writing bad html code when I export something and wonder if anyone can suggest how to fix.

Specifically, in Fireworks, I created a column of navigation buttons. When a user hovers over a navigation button, a pop-up list appears (i.e. hovering over "About Us" brings up an additional set of clickable links like "Management Profiles" and "Company Mission."

The problem is that even though I have saved about three newer versions of the navigation buttons, Fireworks still thinks that the slices and links are the original version. I mean, in the first version of the buttons, one of the slices was named something like "Version_1_Slice_1" but even though I am now saving the document as Version_3, the slice is still named "Version_1_Slice_1" instead of "Version_3_Slice_3" This means that even though I updated a whole new bunch of things in version 3, Fireworks exports HTML that calls up only my old slices from Version 1. So when I export the Fireworks HTML object into Dreamweaver, it is the old original version 1 with old links, text, and images.

      Any suggestions please ??

Did you change the name of the slice or just the name of the document?

Even when FW writes good HTML, it's bad HTML. You can do much better than
to use those pop-up menus, you know?

I did not change the names of the slices. I changed only the name of the document.

Are users supposed to change the name of the slices, too?
