HTTPS calls fail in self signed HTMLExtension InDesign CC 2014

I have a self signed ZXP from which I use JQuery (AJAX) requests. On the server side there is a proxy which redirects all HTTP requests to HTTPS (302).

The request which was redirected gets (cancelled) by the Chromium browser that hosts the Extension.

The request header looks like this

      1. Request URL:
      2. Request Headersview source
        1. Accept:text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
        2. Content-Type:application/x-www-form-urlencoded
        3. Origin:file://
        4. User-Agent:Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/27.0.1453.110 Safari/537.36
      3. Form Dataview sourceview URL encoded

The question is, is it necessary to sign the ZXP via an authorized service (Verisign).  Or it is some inherent issue with the embedded browser?
