no, there's no dynamic linkage. but you can load an image into a target movieclip, create a bitmap and use the draw method of the bitmap class to create a bitmap of the movieclip.
Thanks very much. It pointed me in the right direction and I solved it.
I did discover that the adobe document is in error, the one at this address I marked in the attached code what should not be included, but is on their site. This is their code with comments trimmed out:
there's no error in their code. once the draw method is executed there's no longer a need for holder_mc. however, you do need to attach your bitmap to a movieclip if you want your bitmap visible on the stage.
because i don't see you doing that and because you felt the need to comment out the removeMovieClip() method, i infer that you are viewing holder_mc and not the bitmap.
in addition, if you want to load more than one bitmap you should use the movieclip parameter in onLoadInit() and use that parameter in place of holder_mc and you should create bitmaps with different instance names.
you're right, however Adobe doesn't have the line:
which would make it work.
then adobe should pay me big bucks for correcting that. let's petition until they pay.
with all your posts and helpfulness I'd think you were on the payroll already!
they pay me nada.
