Choose an appropriate metadata field in the Metadata panel and type in that field.
Use a third-party plugin (John's Big Note plugin comes to mind) to create a custom field you can use how you like.
Hi Rikk…I have only used LRCC for 1 month - LOL. Came from Aperture. When u say choose an appropriate metadata field in the Metadata and type in that field. What field would you suggest - Label? Could you walk me through how to download the John’s Big note. I found it, downloaded it and it takes me to LR and shows a pic. What should I do step by step to activate it? Really appreciate your help. Barb
If you plan on using color labels in the future, I wouldn't use the label field.
Jeffrey Freidl has some nice instructions for how to install a plugin. Jeffrey Friedl's Blog » Installation and Management of Lightroom Plugins
What field would you suggest
You could use the EXIF: User Comment field:
Compared to a plugin like Big Note, the advantage of User Comment is that it is stored in industry-standard metadata inside the photo, outside of the catalog, available to other software. (And a potential disadvantage is that it is stored inside the photo, available to other software.)
Thanks so much! Have a good evening! Barb
