1. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
DrStrik9 Feb 5, 2015 12:12 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)This really is a question for the Illustrator Forum.
But since it's here now:
You need to realize that Photoshop is a raster program, and Illustrator is a vector program. Illustrator has no way to change the color of raster files. You need to do this in Photoshop, prior to placing the file into Illustrator.

2. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
Davidnyc64 Feb 5, 2015 5:54 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)Thank you but there is a way of saving a tiff and changing it's color in Illustrator. Once I remember or if someone can answer for me, I'll add it back in to my question.
Thanks just the same,
David

3. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
Davidnyc64 Feb 5, 2015 6:02 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)Ok, I figured it out what I did. I created a file in grayscale (that's the key). I created a new layer and deleted the background layer. I used a watercolor brush and created my design. I saved it as a tiff and from Illustrator, I opened the file, copied it and pasted it into Illustrator. Then I was able to select it and change it's color as desired.
Whew!
Thanks!
David

4. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
John Mensinger Feb 5, 2015 6:05 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)The image must be in grayscale or "bitmap" mode. Place it on your Illustrator artboard and click a color swatch to change all its non-white pixels to that color. That's the extent of the capability.

5. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
Davidnyc64 Feb 5, 2015 6:12 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)I just want to add that the image has to be not only in grayscale but once it's copied into Illustrator, you can only change the color using spot colors.
Thanks,
David

6. Re: How can I create TIFF or PSD that I can change it's colors in Illustrator?
Davidnyc64 Feb 5, 2015 6:16 AM (in response to Davidnyc64)I'd be happy to send the file via email. The reason I didn't want to use a bitmap was that you lose the airbrush effect. In this case, I was using a watercolor brush.
Thanks,
David
