How are you distributing the EPUB3? Are you distributing it manually, or from your website? Are you publishing through a publisher like the Apple Store?
Just planning on emailing it.

As far as I know, there is no way to add a password to an EPUB file. It's basically a Zip archive that contains HTML, CSS, images, etc.
The reason I asked about distribution is that EPUBs sold through a store can be encrypted. I don't know if that can be done outside of such an environment.
If you control the mailing list are you afraid that your recipients might pass the EPUB on to others?
Yes I am worried that the epub3 will get passed onto others, but I am not worried about anyone 'exploding the epub' to get at the info.
I need to be able to put a password form on the first page to allow access to the following pages - is this possible in epub3? Does anyone have any suggestions how this could be done?
Forms don't work in EPUB3. That's a PDF feature.
