What Type of file are you trying to Edit In PS, a Raw image file, a PSD or Tiff or a JPG file.
The only time I get that option dialog box is when I am sending over a TIFF, PSD, or JPG file. But then selecting any of those 3 options the file opens in PS CC 2014 without any problems.
How old is your Mac? Does it have the original hard drive installed? If you changed the hard drive how long ago? What version of OS X are you using?
First I send a raw file from LR to PH you do some changes and then send it back to LR as a tiff file. when you want to send it back to PS (so you can open it with changes i.e. layers) you get get 3 option 1: edit a copy with LR adjustments 2: edit copy 3: edit original.number 1 workers sed over file but with no layers. 2 & 3 I get a message “some of the application components are missing from the application directory Please reinstall the application.
My Mac is only 6 weeks old and it did work until the cloud asked me to reinstall LR after that I get this message (some of the application components are missing from the application directory Please reinstall the application. )
I know this would be a pain to do all the time but what happens if you open Photoshop, go to the File menu item and select Open (or even Open Recent) and open that same file. Do the layers come through OK.
If they do then you do have a problem with Lightroom. In that case I suggest you Google "Completely Uninstall Lightroom 5 CC Mac OS X" and once LR is completely removed do a reinstall.
Your Catalog should be ok as that is not stored with the program files.
If your in PS and you go to “open file” it works fine, its only through LR you get the message. I have removed and reinstall LR and it still doesn’t work
Thank for your help
Did you follow these instructions?
All of them except the one for your catalog.
And are you installing the latest version of LR when you do the reinstall (If you are a CC subscriber I "Guess" you are installing the latest version).
Are you using a Macbook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Mini or iMac? If an iMac does it have a Fusion drive setup?
Yes I did that and it is the latest version. I am using a iMac don’t know if its a fusion setup. One other thing i just tried sending over a PSD, & JPG and it want except any of them option 1 works 2 & 3 don't
Many Thank for your help
Something is corrupted in OS X. What that is I don't know. Personally I use Windows and haven't had any of these problems. I use to use Mac but stopped about a year ago.
You could try using Disk Utility, it is in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder, to verify the disk and if need Repair disk. You could also do a Verify Disk Permissions and a Repair of them if needed.
Kind of sounds like some files aren't being written to the drive during the reinstall. Or they are then they can't be accessed by Lightroom.
Those 2 verify options are on the First Aid tab in Disk Utility.
I have done disk repair and permissions, It was working fine until it asked me to reinstall LR about 2 weeks ago. I will call Adobe help desk monday Thank you so much for your suggestions take care Stephen
