To answer your immediate problem, I'll bet you moved the top layer, and now you see the effect going beyond its edges.
Here's another problem: you're using mp3 files. Don't. convert audio to an uncompressed file like wav or aiff for best AE results.
But here's the most import, most fundamental problem -- you're just hunting around for something cool to do in AE, but you don't know the basics... and in AE, you have to know the basics. So go here:
You'll save yourself a lot of frustration if you follow a disciplined, step-by-step approach, taught to you by AE Professionals.... and not some hight school kid whose knowledge is sketchy at best.

Hi iwus,(few month delay ) check your mask on the spectrum layer, it should be on none and not add.
