Wait - NONE of your Adobe software will launch? Does any other third-party software work on that Mac?
What happened between when it worked and now? Computers don't just suddenly decide to quit doing a task they used to do because they don't feel like it (even though it may seem like it.) Did something on your computer update? Did some software get installed? Did some codec packs get downloaded? Did any antivirus/firewall settings change?
You might consider updating. Your AE's not up to date - should be 10.5.1 updates for Adobe Media Encoder, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Prelude, Audition, and SpeedGrade
Actually, I do remember downloading a codec pack a few days ago (from the App Store software updates). Maybe that could be the problem? If so, would you know how I can "uninstall" that?
I'm currently updating to 10.5.1 as suggested.
Thanks for your help. Hope my issue gets solved.
Do you remember what codec pack it was?
Pro Video Formats 2.0 downloaded on Feb 7 2015
With the exception of certain codecs from reputable video companies (such as Avid's DNxHD codec), it's exceedingly rare that you would need any downloaded codecs to work with video in the Adobe Suite. Premiere and AE come with pretty much all you'd need. Installing others is usually unneeded and can cause issues.
I'm not familiar with that one you've mentioned.
What I am familiar with is the frequently-occurring instances on these forums of codec packs messing with professional video software (not just Adobe's either). It's usually the K-Lite codec pack messing up Windows machines - sometimes so much that the whole computer needs to be wiped! However, I've seen other codec packs cause issues too - that's why it's in my suggestion list of possible issues!
I've never installed a codec pack on a Mac, so I don't know how to remove them. If I were you, I'd start Googling for how to remove it and see if that fixes the issue.
Well then, that shouldn't have caused the problem. And yet...
Anything else changed?
