Is there a way to set up a running header in a book's indd file (the chapter) for use in multiple books? For example:
I have 3 User Manuals with chapters set up as books.
I'm using some of the chapters in more than one book.
The footer has the file/chapter name.
I would like the header to show the book/User Manual name.
Thank you in advance!
why is this not working for you in this case with Master pages? Or do you want to use Text variables? Just want to make clear what you are actualy asking
Hello Frans thank you for replying!
First a correction to my description in case it makes a difference: each chapter is a separate FILE in a book (not as a book), and some chapters (files) are used in more than one book. The header must reflect the book, not the chapter.
If I use master pages, I think I will need to remember to ensure I have the correct header every time I reprint the book.
I'm using text variables for the chapter name (which is the file name) in the footer. So I need to learn to use the variable based on the Book name not the Chapter name.
