Hello. I've been reading and watching tutorials about this stuff, but kind find the right one and seem to be making some little mistake. I know this is AE 101, but I've tried everything except for the correct thing.
What I am trying to do is draw an invisible box around some text and then when I move the text outside of the box, I want it to disappear. However, I want other layers visible outside of the box, just the text shouldn't be visible.
If that makes sense and someone could point me to the correct tutorial, that would be great. Thanks.
Make a solid (or mask an existing solid) to be the same size as the box you want.
Put it above the text layer. You can't see the text because the solid is hiding it.
In the text layer, set the Trk Matte to Alpha INVERTED Matte. The solid above it becomes invisible and so does the text.
Move the text layer around -- you'll see that it's hidden by the solid.
You'll need one solid for each text layer to do the same thing.
Oh my goodness. I thought I had tried that, but apparently not. Worked perfectly. So simple. Thank you.
