HI can i use BC having my domain hosted by another provider?

Hi Mauro

I managed to do this the other week by changing the name sever with domain host, it was pretty easy and was pointing to my new site within a couple of hours, here is the help page which I followed to achieve this Business Catalyst Help | Change the domain name of your site

You can also do it by changing the A-Records in your DNS settings

Redelegate domain to Business Catalyst DNS

To redelegate a domain, visit your registrar's website and log in to their control panel. After you log in to your registrar, go to the domain management section. Update DNS servers for your domain.

It's necessary to apply the following DNS server addresses:

ns1.worldsecuresystems.com (54.236.190.129)

ns2.worldsecuresystems.com (54.246.209.121)

ns3.worldsecuresystems.com (54.252.148.151)

Point externally hosted domains to your Business Catalyst site

If you have chosen to use external DNS service for your domain name, create A-Records for both the www and non-www versions of your domain name. Then, point them to your site, which resides on one of the following IP addresses:

• United States data center - 54.236.190.114 or 54.236.189.64 or 54.236.189.61
• European Union data center - 54.246.209.120 or 54.246.209.119 or 54.246.209.93
• Australia data center - 54.252.148.183 or 54.252.148.191 or 54.252.148.134

To determine the datacenter your site is located on, try pinging the system (*.businesscatalyst.com) or secure (*.worldsecuresystems.com) subdomains for your site. To ping a site, follow these instructions:

• On Windows
  • go to Start->Run(or search)->cmd.exe
• On Mac
  • search and open Terminal
• Then,
  • type the following:  ping yoursite.businesscatalyst.com
    • replace yoursite with your subdomain
      
  • Look at the IP you see on the screen - and use it or the other 2 IPs for the same datacenter, at your registrar
