Is there a maximum number of grepstyles?

Is there a maximum number of grepStyles that can be created in a script?

I find that after 99, I get an error ("object no longer exists").

Is there any way around the limit?

Sometimes I can add additional grepStyles manually (not always) but never more by script.

You're right, that appears to be the maximum (99 in CC, 100 in 2014).

Whether that is good or bad I don't know: if you have many GREP styles in a longish document, that document will get sluggish to the point of becoming unusable. There's one document (now about 100 pages) I work on from time to time with quite a few GREP styles, and I'm now contemplating removing the styles and applying the character styles locally.

But anyway, InDesign imposes a maximum on the number of GREP styles you can add to a paragraph style).
