I am trying to upload a picture I edited in Windows Photo Gallery by using the "Place" option. The image in Windows is clear; however, when I place it in indesign, it is blurry. How do I fix this? I have already set the display performance to high quality and that did not fix it. The ppi is low (52*67) but I do not know how to change that.
Besides being scaled unevenly (if that's really resolution and not the pixel count), you don't really have enough pixels in the image to use it at this size.
Indesign only offers a proxy image to display in the layout.
In the View>Display Performance you can choose High Quality and this shows a higher res proxy image.
In the info panel (Window>Info) when you have the image selected you're presented with two settings.
Actual and Effective.
Actual is what the image is actually.
Effective is how the resolution has changed due to scaling.
It's simple maths, if it's 50ppi actually and effectively 300 ppi then it's good to go.
If it's actually 300 ppi and effectively 50 ppi then you have an issue.
