Wanting to do something in AE quickly when you're new to it is a recipe for frustration, but we can probably help.
Are you saying you want to put animation over that video? What sort of animation are you wanting to add? I mean, that's just a slideshow of still images (well, I got a minute into it and all I saw was stills), so it shouldn't be too complicated...
Thanks for the reply,
So the video shown (hockey 101, just want to check that is where the link took you?) is just an example I have seen that has a similar animation style to what I would like to achieve. In terms of the actual footage I am going to animate on top of is yet to be chosen. I am just wondering the best way to achieve this?
The link you used to have took me to a 21st birthday-themed slideshow...
Anyway, the simplest solution to copy the Hockey 101 video would be to draw something as a shape layer and use the wiggle paths thing to make it look hand-drawn. This way you only need to draw once per shot. If the camera is moving, you can use motion tracking to make the drawing follow the movement.
oops, no idea why that happened... sorry.
Would that allow for the 'shapes' appearing in a way that makes them look as though they are being drawn on?
The Trim Paths operator would do that.
