Are you sure this is an InDesign question? If it is you’re using some kind of managed workflow and you’re going to have to fill us in.
What do you information you need? I was working with an In Design document and as I said I tried to copy some pages. This is what happened. I do not know what you mean by managed workflow.
It sounds like you've somehow managed to set-up InCopy Assignments.
Hopefully this will help:
- Choose Window > Editorial > Assignments
- Click the expansion triangle to the left of any items listed in the Assignments panel
- Select the individual item and then click the Delete button (trash can) at the bottom of the panel.
I think you are on to something here. However, I get the name of the original document and then below a list of 'unassigned In copy' documents. What i don't want to do is delete these documents and loose the original.
What do you think?
Deleting assignments leave the content on the page, so you see the Delete icon as active, it's pretty safe to delete them. As a back-up work on a copy of your document so you have a fall-back file.
Can you let us know HOW you copied pages from one document to another? What steps did you take? As it might make it easier for us to help you with this issue.
Another thing you can look at is the Links panel:
- If any text frames are listed there, select them, then from the Links panel menu choose Unlink
Also ... as you referred to 'Draft' as part of your original question - Are you working within a WoodWing Enterprise InDesign/InCopy workflow maybe? In that case you'll need to change the 'status' of the file again in Content Station. Check the WoodWing documentation for more information on this.
No as far as I am aware I am working on an In Design document. the problem started when I clicked Yes to - 'do you want anyone to be able to edit the copy'
I may have mislead you. I gave the copy I wanted to make the title of 'Connie Draft Text'
What comes up now at the top of every frame is an icon which looks like a black and white symbol of the world (Circular with shading on it) with a bold arrow pointing downwards.
When you click on it, it says 'Connie Draft Text -The De-1.icml is available for anyone to edit.'
If you try to work within the frame a box comes up which says 'You must check out the contents of this frame in order to make changes. Check out now Yes - No"
If you click yes, a pencil pointing downwards appears in place of the logo.
I would like to get back to the original which did not have this.
It seems what I have done is to have inadvertantly created an InCopy Document which 'allows access to anyone'.
I wonder if there is anyway I can go back to the original or export to the original version. I see you can export to an HDML version of InDesign but is this the same as the usual document.
Open the assignments panel. Expand the assignments that might be in there
and delete all of the InCopy stories.
