7. Re: Sharing Violation with a .dwt file
web-betty Feb 25, 2007 3:36 PM (in response to web-betty)I don't have the .dwt file open in any other application. What would be the point of opening a Dreamweaver specific file in another application?
I have even gone so far as to close EVERY application on my computer, then re-open Dreamweaver. I've cleared my browser cache, thinking maybe the problem has to do with caching the file if I preview it in a browser. I've also looked for hidden temp files. Same problem. I go to make a change to the .dwt file and get a sharing violation when I go to save. -

Maybe you could rename the file outside of DW - temporarily, then open
that filename in DW and save it as the original name.

Newsgroup_User Feb 25, 2007 5:24 PM (in response to web-betty)Are you on a standalone workstation or a LAN. If the latter, then I'd tend
to think there was some LAN policy that may be getting in the way of things.
What is it you are trying to do when you get this error, by the way?

mfaizanattique Sep 18, 2014 1:03 AM (in response to web-betty)It usually happens when we try to run the .dwt file on browsers. Try clearing your browser cache and re start your Dreamweaver. I solved it this way.

14. Re: Sharing Violation with a .dwt file
Codefinger Dec 1, 2014 1:06 PM (in response to web-betty)I also get this error when updating Templated pages via an update to a Template. I notice if I make a change to the Template, save and then hit 'Update..' too quickly, then I usually get these errors. If I wait an arbitrary 5 seconds between saving and updating - it is usually (but not always) fine.
I'm working locally on Win8.1 with SSD and megatonnes of RAM; there are no performance issues with my PC to note, Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 appears to be the only complainant.
