I've built a few calendars in the recent past, and I link mine to a mySQL database using php. You could do this with any server-side technology, but you'll have to have some understanding how to go about it.
Actually, I've wondered how well a calendar would work based off just php's .txt file making quality (mySQL free) but it'd just be 100x more disorganized and maybe 2x more easily understood by non-devs.
Anyway, are you asking for help on the engine that powers the calendar?
Yep! Still looking for help!
I'm sorry, I meant specifically which part are you looking for help on. I spose I could walk you through making a calendar in its entirety, but it'd be long, you'd get frustrated, and I'd get fired for not doing my work. So start work on it yourself, and let me know what issues you run into. I'll be happy to help by addressing them specifically :)
you'll need to first pick a server technology. php is free, asp is not, but its also good. coldfusion costs 1 left kidney, but works well with flash. So lets get started eh?
I'm sorry! I wasn't any help to you at all with my last post! I have a calendar made! It work's great I can send you swf if you need. And it's live now on >
I have some idea of what I'm doing with php but not a great deal. I have never opend ColdFusion befor so I do not know anything about it. But I am a fast lerner. I'm downloading the "Devloper Trial Version" of it now.
The problem I am having is being able to add an event to any given date. And I can not figure out what code I heed to add to be able to do that? For example Let's say there's a meating on the 3rd of november 2008. How can I add that text to just that date?? Hope I've made a bit more sence??
And get back to work;-)
okay, lets work it with some php. Do you have an environment where you can access php / mysql? (ie- phpMyAdmin as well maybe)
