In the past year After Effects' render preview seems to have got a lot worse.
When I render a work area there is about a 22 frame delay beofre the picutre becomes visible. The audio plays but picture is frozen and misses out the start of the preview.
You have to wait until it cycles to the end to watch the start.
Why is this happening? It was something that worked perfectly for years and now doesn't.
Is there a way to fix this on my side or do I just lump it?!
OSX 10.10 / 10.9
AE CC 2014
This is a known issue with Yosemite on all versions of AE. Even if you try with CS6, you'll still see this problem. If you use a different OS, you will not have this problem. This is an Apple issue; they changed stuff in Yosemite. I'm sure they had their reasons. Until Apple releases a fix (if they ever will), you're pretty stuck if you can't go back to Mavericks.
However, Adobe has a fix in the works. The problem is that the fix involves completely rewriting AE's core code. According to the Adobe folks, the updated version of AE with the new previewing is supposed to be coming out in "spring". So everyone on Yosemite will have to yell at politely ask Apple to fix the issue and/or wait until the AE update. Frustrating, I know.
Thanks. Well at least I know there's nothing I can do for now. I'll keep an eye out for the solution from either side!
