How can I recover a missing Scripts palette?

    JMylloDesign

I am using InDesign CS6 Version 8.0 on a Mac running Yosemite 10.10.1. When I first checked my Scripts by going to Window > Utilities > Scripts, none were visible. I navigated to the Application folder (InDesign CS6 > Scripts > Scripts Panel > Samples > JavaScript) and added two .jsx scripts to this folder and two .txt files to the FindChangeSupport folder. There were other scripts already in this folder, too, that were already previously not visible from my Scripts palette in InDesign. I check for the new scripts which aren't showing up, so I restart my application. Upon reopening, the Utilities dropdown is now called "UtilitiesSubmenu" and does not even include the Scripts or Scripts Panel options any longer. Only Background Tasks, Data Merge, Tags, and Tool Hints appear. How do I get Scripts back?
