Im working on a project and id like to add some more detail to floating text.
Rather than have one solid colour id like to graduate the colour of the text from a light to a darker shad of color.
Can anyone recommend an effect that i could add to the text that might sell this image a bit more?
Full the text with a gradient.
You can also open the text presets (see the AE Help system) and text style presets. Lots of interesting effects in there!
Composing good motion graphics is a combination of taste, art, and familiarity with the software tools. Try to have some fun with this. You can also use 3D text (again, see the help system and other tutorial sites) so it appears to be actually built on the scene; you can track the text with movement of the camera and have realistic shadows projected onto the scene's streets and have realistic lights hit the text objects as cars pass. Takes weeks to accomplish.
