Sorry, nobody will be a bit surprised. You have been luckier than almost everyone, for some reason, but that's run out. XP is the last compatible system, I recommend keeping an old XP system. There will be no patches, it is very, very long dead.
I tried InDesign when it first came out. It was virtually unuseable. Pagemaker has been a good stalwart that WORKED (what a shock concept in toadys world).
So - you buy a BMW and use it for a few months then, when it needs a service, you take it in to the garage and they say - Sorry the manufacturers no longer support this car. They are now manufacturing the Trabbant - you will have to buy one of those
Pretty much. Though, for "a few months" you can read "13 years".
InDesign was indeed unusable when it was first released. I too went back
to PM until 1.5 released and haven’t look back since.
You don’t necessarily need InDesign. You can look at scribus for free or
perhaps Page Plus by Serif.
Hi Thanks I have heard of Scribus but never tried it. I will give it a whirl.
We only do booklets and brochures now. I used to publish a magazine so PM has served me well.
Haha yes - artistic licence (or short term memory loss) I cannot remember the last 13 years
