while this used to be a big no no in the past, it seems like its more acceptable to mix ram today. you would need to set the bios to use the settings of the slower ram, so the cas 10 latency and any other slower settings of the two ram. once it boots and appears to be working, its always good to run memtest86, at least overnight, a few nights to make sure its working ok.
Thanks for the advice,
You mean i need to tune bios a little for "cas 9 kit" or "cas 10 kit" to be working on same motherboard?
Already on the motherboard :
Corsair Vengeance 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9)
Want to add this along with that:
Corsair Vengeance 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10)
yeah, you need to set the bios for the slower speed, to underclock the faster ram. otherwise you will be overclocking the slow ram.
the cas latency 10 will be the slower, so set bios for that ram.
- DDR3 1600
- Timing 10-10-10-27
- Cas Latency 10
- Voltage 1.5V
