Thanks for the links! but...I am still lost. I read through the information, which I found a couple of days ago, but I have no idea what to do? These articles are all over the place with java classes, cf, etc.. I need a brief "1-2-3" steps on how to get my Flex application to use custom login for basic authentication to a webservice (asp.net). Not like it being asp.net is important but the webservice is IIS 6.0 with basic authentication....any help would be much appreciated!
Not sure if this helps since its more directed towards the use of an HTTPService but thought I'd pass it along just in case:
Also, when you tried the use the setRemoteCredentials() for the WebService, did you set the useProxy to true? Here's the snippet from the docs:
The username and password to authenticate a user when accessing the webservice. These will be passed as part of the HTTP Authorization header from the proxy to the endpoint. If useProxy is false this property will be ignored.
You may want to try and set the useProxy to true and see if that works.
Thanks again for your reply! I tried that article. I can't set webservice headers for my webservice. That article will work for just HTTP requests. Also, I am NOT using proxy. ie. useProxy=false. This is important since I am communicating with the webservice (RPC) directly and not through Flex data services. Has anybody setup a basic authentication webservice with a flex front-end communicating via basic-authentication. Resources are very scarce on this topic. I will accept hacks and work-arounds at this point. ;). I am using Flex 2 and requiring my end-users to have Flash Player 9..
