check the text animation effects presets in Bridge (see the help system on how to do that). There might just be one.
Learning to use the animators on text layers is confusing and nonintuitive but no impossible. Just takes patience and lots of errors. Really, it will take you ten minutes to figure this out or, if you're more like me, a few years. But the help system has everything need to know and several useful links to online tutorials for animating text.
Hang around for a while. One of the more experienced wonks will be able to explain it for you better than I.
Text Animation Preset "Wipe In from Centre.
You need to play with that to understand range selector.
What sort of animation is required.
I don't have AE here on my iPad.
Does that preset actually move the glyphs or just do a wipe?
Its a simple wipe but it uses Range Selectors in an Animator
The OP did not state what "animation" was required so this was a starting point suggestion.
My guess is whatever..will require "range selectors".
1. Apply the Wipe In To Center text preset (open Effects & Presets window and search for this text preset)
2. Open the effect (it's called an Animator) and find the Range Selectors (labeled Start and End)
a) Go to 1st keyframe, drag Left (Start) and Right (End) selectors to the center of the text
b) Go to 2nd keyframe, drag Left (Start) selector to the start of the text and drag the Right (End) selector to the end of the text
3. Open the Advanced twirl down...
a) Set Mode to Subtract (this will reverse the effect)
b) Set shape to Square
