    Image Map Hot Spot

    Level 7
      I am using DW8 I have an image map. If I use the square/rect tool or the
      circle tool I can get a hot spot to show. If I try to draw a polygon shape,
      I do not get the green overlay that works with the other tools.

      What am I doing wrong or is this a bug?

          How are you drawing the hotspot? Are you doing click:click:click:click to
          mark the apices of the polygon?

            actually clickity click no, only kidding. Yes I am doing click, click click
            to draw the polygon. I tried click drag click drag and it didn't work that
            way either.

            the coordinates are getting recorded, it's just not showing me the overlay.
            So, I can't select it and/or set the behavior.

                  Interesting, here is the generated code It seems to be placing a href tag
                  with each coordinate:
                  <map name="Map" id="Map"><area shape="poly" coords="127,57" href="#" /><area
                  shape="poly" coords="127,2" href="#" /><area shape="poly" coords="317,4"
                  href="#" /><area shape="poly" coords="318,149" href="#" /><area shape="poly"
                  coords="230,148" href="#" /><area shape="poly" coords="234,94" href="#"

                    Ok Murray,

                    Of further interest. When I open a different page in a different site, that
                    "already" has an image map I can draw a polygon. If I open a page that "does
                    not" already have an image map I can not draw a polygon.

                        I found that if I go to the map in code view and delete all the code except
                        for the coordinates then it shows the overlay. I will send you the file.

                                  To be honest, I'm not sure. I have submitted it as a bug in the past, but
                                  without steps to make it reproduce every time, it's hard to have someone fix
                                  it.

                                        I'm having the same problem with the polygon tool on a Mac (10.4) and a PC (XP), so it's not platform specific. Rectangle and circle work.

                                          I know this thread is over a year old but I just fought my way through this one and found a solution. Actually, I also fought it three years ago on Dreamweaver MX but forgot the solution.

                                          The only way I was able to make it work was to remove any alignment from the image. This includes DIV tags, tables and alignment settings on the img statement. What I did was to move the image from an aligned table to just below the Body tag. The polygon tool worked perfectly then. Once I finished all of the hotspots, I moved the image back to its original location inside the table and reestablished the alignments and everything works fine.

                                          The real problem is that dreamweaver will not create a polygon hotspot on an image that has alignment settings.

                                          Bug in Dreamweaver.

                                            This bug is now fixed in 8.0.2 upgrade.

                                              I am using Dreamweaver in the cs3 suite. I had some pages that i created in a previous version of image ready in which I had image maps on several locations on the page. However, when i open those files in the new photoshop and save them for web when I open them in dreamweaver all the image map info. is no longer there. Can someone please give some tips or advise on this?

                                                What file format are these files? html and images? or only .psd? or ?

                                                Can you upload the html files you opened in dreamweaver to someplace and
                                                give the url address to them so the code can be seen?

                                                also- it looks like you did a 'me too' reply to an old post?
