The only way to do it from browser is with getURL action, the rest,
based on file extension, is in the mercy of end user preference.

What kind of file are you trying to open? A text file, another swf, or perhaps an excel file or something of that nature?

I have spoken to my friend who asked me the question, it turns out it is a html file he wishes to open. But this html file is not on the net and is located on the harddrive.

I have already told him that what ever he do to keep the link relative he needs to make sure the file remains in the same location. Urami I have tried a getURL action here is my code

The file is just a .html im using as a test on my usb stick. the button I have saved in the same folder to help make sure my link is relative. When testing the file in html preview it says it can't find the file
