1. Re: FLV vs WMV file size

Are you in Flash 8? Flash 8 has a much more efficient encoding process than
MX 2004 did. Either way you should check out this article. I've found it
very helpful in choosing the right settings for FLVs

2. FLV vs WMV file size
BruceCSI2 Jan 31, 2007 5:13 PM (in response to BruceCSI2)Thanks for the article. I'm using a Flash exporter in Visual Communicator (from Serious Magic, who Adobe just purchased in Dec). It's creating huge Flash files, but the only setting it gives you is the size of the window. It produces the best looking flv files (I've also tried Riva, Flix and a couple other 3rd party encoders and they look really bad compared to what VC puts out. Yes, I know about quality vs file size). I want to use the encoder built into Flash, but my system can't find a .msi file it needs and won't work. My IT guy has tried finding it and can't find it either. Do you know of any other flv encoders?
I bookmarked the article and will check it tomorrow. -

QuickTime H.264 codec has yielded some really impressive results.
