    Embedded hotspots on animated gif

    ribbernator
      Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if it is possible to create multiple hotspots on an animated gif that are embedded in the gif file itself, instead of adding additional HTML to my page.

      Thanks

          nope ... not possible.
          It is possible in Flash.

"Hotspots" are an HTML construction, not something that is embedded in the
pixels of an image. So, no, you cannot. Furthermore, you can only have
multiple hotspots on the entire animation, not unique ones on unique frames
            of the animation.

What is it you are trying to do?

I work for a large company that is about to launch a website that has an animated gif on the homepage. We want to allow browsers to click on the main area of the gif, which will take them to a video archive page. In the bottom right of the gif will be a Subscribe to Podcast feed button, that will integrate into iTunes.

No-one here wants to ad additional HTML to the page. Is any of this possible without the use of Flash?

You could split the image into two and accomplish that.
It would add a tiny bit more html, maybe a line or two.
