Cleanup data before operating system shutdown

      http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflex/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118676a5d46-8000. html#WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7cd3

The link above has a description of how to make use of EXITING and CLOSING events to do this, but I have tried this to no avail. The data gets cleanup with no problems if I exit the application by clicking on the Close button on the window chrome, but if I choose to shutdown Windows without closing the application, the data cleanup doesn't seem to happen, yet from the documentation, I'm led to believe that this should work as well. The data cleanup process in this case involves writing a row into the SQLite database. Am I missing something here?

Anyone has any advice? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
