Standard advice to questions about messing with the output is go right ahead as long as everything working OK is not an issue! The whole thing is so intertwined that it would be easy to break something.
What you are looking sounds like part of RH's check on what browser is being used and I don't recall anyone having reported that as a performance hit.
In the wizard, try changing the setting from webhelp to local intranet. That often improves things.
What about the idea of changing the Navigation Pane Predefined Format from: Java > DHTML > Pure HTML - to
DHTML > Pure HTML.
Might that affect the speed as well?
I can't say from a point of having tested that but I doubt it would make a difference a human could measure. One way to find out! :-)
Create an HTML page with links to some topics and then use that to see how it compares with calls from the application. If they work significantly faster then it sort of puts the blame on the call from the application. If it makes little difference, then I'm not sure what else to suggest. Is the application and the help in the same environment that it will be used in the real world?
