Depends. Fireworks CS6 (FW CC does not exist, and will never exist, since Adobe stopped developing and supporting Fireworks since May 2013) does not support more advanced down-scaling algorithms.
What type of image are you down-scaling, and from what original size down to what smaller size exactly? Could you provide us with an example?
Herbert2001, thank you for your reply. I didn't realize Adobe stopped supporting Fireworks. It's really weird, I've been down-scaling .jpg and .png images for years w/o problem - large images 2000 pixels down to 300 pixels and smaller and it worked beautifully. Here is what I am getting now:
The lines become choppy. If it's a more complicated image, such as a house with siding, the lines become even choppier.
Could it be that you inadvertently have changed the interpolation method from "Bicubic" to either "Bilinear" or "Closest Neighbor" in the Image Size dialog?
When I switch from Bicubic to either one, I wind up with the same rough version.
Thank you, that solved the problem.
I really appreciate your time and effort on this.
Thanks again for all your help.
