Change text style through JS or AA

Hi all

Is there a way to change text style in an entry box using Javascript or Advanced actions please?

I'm putting together an instructional course on how to use software and it needs to be as realistic as possible - including ability to change text input to either bold or italicised. 

Is there any way to do this at all please?

With AA it is pretty much impossible. Will leave it to other users to answer about JS.
