I have a publication that in multi-page and has multiple sections. This project will need to be set up for print as well as 508 PDF.
Is it wrong to have my threaded type page to page knowing that it will need to be 508'ed in the end. Seem this might create problems. But if I don't thread it create production issues with the document for print.
This is a quarterly project so Id like to streamline the set up as much as possible.
Any feed back on this?
What does 508 mean?
Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals.
Is it the same as PDF/UA (unlimited access)?
If that is the case, it is not wrong to thread text page to page, but it very important, a must to work with paragraph, character and object styles for everything and don't forget the the export tagging for PDF and HTML and EPUB.
Also important is to distinguish between master and content. On the master com running headers and page numbers, on the page all content. Master items are ignored for people with limited access and upon HTML and EPUB export.
Every image has to have an alternative text.
