Although the deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file has been a life saver for many Premiere Elements users with the Display error, this may not work for you based on your overall description of the problem. As I see it, it is HP who should have the answer for you since your issue impacts Movie Maker 12 as well as Premiere Elements 12/12.1.

Thanks for the suggestion. I followed the instruction but it made no difference when starting PE 12. It reports the incompatibility with the custom display driver as it always has.
If the problem is display driver incompatibilit, the solution is to uninstall the incorrect drivers and install the correct driver.
Yeah, it is easy as it sounds if you use an automatic driver finder and updater.
Firstly, uninstall drivers
After that, rescan your computer in the Overview board, it will identify the missing driver and install the correct one on demand with one click.
